Dear Alessandra,
Mar. 8th, 2006 12:47 amI saw you today. At least I would like to think it was you. You were how I imagine you would have looked when you were 3 or 4, walking through the food court of the mall, looking up into the skylight as if you were trying to catch a glimpse of a bird or maybe a plane. Just after you passed where I was sitting, you saw whatever it was you were looking for and you called to your mom, saying "There it is! I see it!". You were so proud, and I was proud of you, even though I had no part to play in your search. You were flawless in your innocence and curiosity, and that made you all the more beautiful to me.
Thank you. Thank you for allowing me that peek into your life. I know that I'm not able to be there for those moments, those discoveries, but for a moment, I was. I will not forget how that feels. I hope those discoveries never end.
Love,
The father you may never know, but who loves you with all his heart
