A "30-Second" Movie review: Daredevil
Feb. 15th, 2003 10:02 amDaredevil is based on the Marvel comic by Stan Lee and Bill Everett. For those few of you who don't know, it is the story of Matt Murdock who was blinded in his early teens when he was splashed in the face with radioactive waste. As is common in the comics, the radioactive waste also caused his other senses to become heightened to a superhuman degree and Murdock decides that there are people out there who need to be defended. The movie stars Ben Affleck (Sum of All Fears, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) and (HUBBA HUBBA!!!) Jennifer Garner (Catch Me If YOu Can, Dude, Where's My Car?) and both are excellent in their roles. Michael Clarke Duncan and Colin Farrell also star as the Kingpin and Bullseye. With only minor deviation from the comic, Mark Steven Johnson pulls off a gritty, Hold-on-for-dear-Life, story that is as close to the comic as I would ever want to see. The actual storyline was very good, fitting the whole Daredevil/Elektra romance very neatly into the action without getting bogged down. The action scenes were great, and the creative nods to the people who created, and bring Daredevil to the stands every month were like finding Easter eggs on Sunday morning. I'm not going to tell anything about the movie, better that you get to experience it firsthand yourself.
Synopsis: All I'll say is that if you are a fan of the comic or are just going to see Affleck and Garner in tight costumes, you will not be disappointed.
Rating: I will give this 4 Nightsticks out of 5
