Hope and security have nothing to do with it, if you ask me.

Aligning yourself with the great forces of the universe might have something to do with it. At least, that's why I do it. It's a peculiarly practical thing to do at times, though that's not why one should do it. The serenity one occasionally achieves is a side effect.
